2019-2020 Executive Board
McKenna Rivers is a junior nutritional science major at CalStateLA and the Student Dietetic Association’s president for the 2019-2020 school year. She is thrilled to finally be serving on the executive board during her third year in the SDA. One of her favorite events is the Healthy Snack Stand and hopes to provide healthy recipes at each stand this year to help educate the campus community on seasonal fruits and veggies. McKenna intends to pursue two masters in nutritional science and food science with a focus in product development. When not at school, you can find McKenna at the beach, hiking, or in the kitchen testing out new recipes.
Denh Vong is this year’s vice president of the SDA. She is half Chinese and half Vietnamese, born in Vietnam, and moved to America at the age of six where she has lived in Los Angeles ever since. She will be completing her BS in nutritional science in spring 2020 with the goal of becoming a registered dietitian with a focus in clinical nutrition to work in hospitals to provide medical nutrition therapy to improve patients health conditions. She enjoys watching Korean dramas, playing with her dog, journaling, cooking, and shopping. She loves all types of music, but mostly of Korean-Pop and enjoys playing the guitar with the hopes of becoming a prolific songwriter.
Priscilla Vega is a Junior at CSULA and majoring in Nutritional Science. The vastness of the field is exciting to her, as she strives to become a Nurse Practitioner and apply the benefits nutrition can have on overall health. She enjoys indulging in the cuisines that are offered in and around LA, and has an interest in holistic health. She is excited to gather knowledge on anything and everything in order to provide the same knowledge to anyone else and spare them the hardships. Additional hobbies include watching anime, bike riding, going to Disneyland, and sharing philosophies with her brother for hours.
Editor of Eatatorial
Alicia Papanek is the new editor of the Eatatorial, the monthly newsletter published by the SDA. She is a graduate student in the nutrition department with a focus in community nutrition, ethical food sourcing, and public policy. She’s deeply committed to sustainable agriculture and believes in food access for all. She teaches edible gardening to elementary school students, loves to write, paint, make art, and loves to cook for family and friends.
Social Media Manager
Christina Armendariz is the new SDA social media manager for the 2019-2020 school year!
She will be graduating next year with her undergraduate degree in nutritional science. She is the face behind @ingooodhealth’s Instagram page where she talks about everything health, wellness, and inspiration for living a healthy life. Her vision is to become a private practice Dietitian, specializing in functional nutrition medicine and holistic healing. She also aspires to educate lower-income cities and populations that suffer from obesity and chronic diseases through nutrition education and intervention. As the social media manager for the SDA she plans to bring creativity, excitement, and inspiration to the members of the SDA!
Najme Saleh is the newest treasuer, with junior standing in receiving her bachelors in Nutritional Science. She wishes to achieve her Masters in nutritional science and start working as a clinical dietitian in hospitals. Najme comes from a middle eastern family, where her culture is big on cooking and healing foods, explaining her passion for nutrition. She believes that the SDA will help her learn about different cultures that can help her create new healthy ethnicity-mixed recipes such as a falafel burger or burrito. Her favorite activities include going to the beach, hiking during sunrise and of course trying all
the new restaurants.
